Christine Hollywood
Fragile Islands
Fragile Islands gives voice to the hidden experience of girls, women and mothers. As a collection in two parts the author draws on the characters in Punch and Judy to showcase violence, collusion and societal suppression of women. Poems in part two recognise the fragility in all of us, exploring generational impact, relationship breakup, solo mothering and trauma. Christine’s poems depict liminalities alongside our capacity for resilience and fun, with nature as a lifeline we are invited to catch and keep.
