Conversations with Magic Stones

Conversations with Magic Stones commemorates the life and work of Barbara Hepworth, fifty years after her death in a fire at her home in St Ives. It goes on to explore the Hepworth themes of figures in the landscape, loss, resilience and transformation, moving from the poet’s home in West Cornwall to the Isles of Scilly and back again.

‘Part celebration of Barbara Hepworth’s hard-fought achievements as a woman artist, part exploration of the inward creative life itself, these shining, beautiful poems meditate on love, mothering, attachment and solitude set within their shared Cornish landscape, granite-strong, wind-strung.’
~ Pippa Little

'A sunlit, scrubbed and chiselled conversation between a poet and a sculptor, between now and then, linked by motherhood and love.’
~ Maitreyabandhu

'Like Hepworth’s art, these poems open to what lies beyond: their lasting impression is of light – much light – and epiphany.’
~ Rosie Jackson
